“Due to circumstances beyond control, the FMCSA will be postponing the Tech-Celerate Now webinar to a later date.  All webinar registrants will be notified when the new date is set.”

The FMCSA-sponsored Tech-Celerate Now Program will host an online webinar at a new date/time to be announced to highlight progress made on analyzing adoption of active safety technologies, as part of its ongoing initiative.  Interested stakeholders may register to attend the live event free of charge at www.Tech-CelerateNow.org

“Our mission is to reduce crashes and fatalities and we can achieve this mission in a lot of ways by using education, partnerships and innovation through collaboration,” said Dan Murray, program co-principal investigator, and senior vice president, American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). “We’re very pleased to share with industry our progress thus far, aimed at expanding the industry dialogue on the potential safety benefits of active safety systems.”

FMCSA developed the Tech-Celerate Now program to reduce fatalities, injuries and crashes through expanded use of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The FMCSA program is analyzing industry awareness and perceptions of ADAS, with the goal of increasing its voluntary adoption among fleets and owner-operators.

Tech-Celerate Now recently completed two key reports. The Tech-Celerate Now “ADAS Baseline Adoption Report” will provide input to the project’s ROI Calculator and also presents data on how awareness, perception and adoption levels change over time. The Baseline Report is based on data from three large surveys that collected carrier, driver and vendor responses on the current state of ADAS in trucking. Findings will also be presented on the “Barriers to ADAS Adoption Report,” which documents a range of market and technical issues that may hinder ADAS adoption; however, it also proffers potential solutions and opportunities to both fleets and drivers.

Finally, an update will be provided on developing recommended practices, technology videos and other technical materials that highlight information on ADAS technologies.

Tech-Celerate Now is part of a new government-industry initiative led by FMCSA, a unique program that is bringing together government agencies and trucking industry organizations, including the American Trucking Associations, ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council, the American Transportation Research Institute and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association Foundation.
