Summary:
Lazer Logistics is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Warranty Management and Recovery to join our Fleet Operations team. The successful candidate will lead our efforts in maximizing warranty reimbursements and optimizing warranty recovery processes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of warranty management, expertise in vendor relationships, and the ability to collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure the highest level of warranty recovery efficiency. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and a focus on continuous improvement in vendor recovery practices.
Job Description:
1. Vendor Warranty Recovery:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for maximizing warranty recoveries from fleet equipment vendors.
- Implement processes to track, analyze, and optimize vendor recovery rates across asset classes and manufacturers.
- Leverage Fleet Management Software for warranty analytics and process improvements.
2. Training Operations Personnel:
- Design and implement training programs for Operations field personnel to enhance their understanding of warranty recovery best practices including identification and prevention of repeat failure costs.
- Collaborate with Operations field teams to identify opportunities for improvement in warranty recovery processes and repeat failure reimbursements.
3. Vendor Relationships:
- Establish and nurture effective relationships with all major fleet equipment vendors to facilitate effective warranty recovery.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate favorable warranty terms with vendors.
4. Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work closely with Fleet, Operations and Finance teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration in warranty recovery efforts.
- Coordinate, collaborate and meet with manufacturer engineering and quality assurance teams to address recurring warranty (and repeat failure) issues.
5. Financial Performance Metrics and Reporting:
- Responsible for annual warranty recovery budget performance.
- Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of warranty recovery efforts, both internally and with vendors.
- Provide regular reports to executive leadership on warranty recovery performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze vendor warranty programs and optimize extended warranty opportunities with consideration for Lazer’s unique operation, terms, costs and recovery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warranty recovery processes and increase recovery rates.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies impacting warranty recovery.
Qualifications and Experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven 5+ years experience in warranty management in a large fleet environment with a focus on vendor recovery for fleet equipment.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with fleet equipment vendors.
- In-depth knowledge of standard and extended warranty programs offered by manufacturers, laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
