Job Summary:

The Director of Maintenance Procurement is responsible for leading a comprehensive and efficient parts program for the fleet. The individual in this role will accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, security, pricing and technology. This role will be responsible for creating a parts system that provides accountability and visibility to Fleet services with a focus on equipment reliability and uptime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate national pricing and programs with major suppliers
  • Standardize parts program and pricing across the fleet
  • Maximize annual warranty recapture related parts and components
  • Create and Utilize KPIs to measure the effectiveness of our parts programs and inventory
  • Recommend cost effective and/or long-life components in the spec’ing of new builds
  • Utilize technology to streamline our parts and tires procurement process
  • Report and recommend to Upper Management on ongoing parts and tire strategies
  • Work with the Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
  • Ability to source parts in conventional and unconventional ways. Not accepting a “Backorder” status as the final answer.
  • Possess a good overall knowledge of the OEM, aftermarket and used lines available.
  • Use data and analytics to maximize inventory cost, efficiency, stock and turns.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales/purchasing
  • Provide technical parts assistance to service managers, service writers, technicians, vendor service teams and external vendors.
  • Train shop personnel in all facets of inventory maintenance and management.
  • Conduct reviews of shops inventory maintenance and management.
  • Transfer critical parts within NFI‘s network of shops, facilities and external vendors to maximize fleet uptime.
  • Manage core and warranty parts return with assigned facilities and shops
  • Responsible for inventory maintenance, including inventory counts, cycle counts, obsolescence, inventory setups and closures.
  • Align department with the overall strategic goals of the company
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • BA / BS degree preferred
  •  Five years of experience in tractor/trailer parts procurement preferred
  • Results driven and possess sense of urgency
  • Pleasant and articulate telephone manner
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be highly organized and have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be able to make sound decisions regarding the business and involve upper management as necessary.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Professional personal appearance
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time, multiple day and overnight travel is expected
