Event Features Dozens of Technical Sessions and Premier Trade Show

New Orleans, Louisiana – American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council opened TMC’s 2024 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition here at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

“Every year, the TMC Annual Meeting is among our most important meetings,” said ATA President and CEO Chris Spear. “From the sold-out exhibit hall to the scores of educational sessions and industry standard-setting task forces, this year’s gathering promises to be an important opportunity for industry leaders to chart a course to address critical issues like reducing emissions, automation and improving safety.”

This year’s theme is “Quality Spec’ing for Optimal Performance” — and will feature TMC’s customary slate of educational sessions, task force meetings, technical sessions and management sessions, in addition the Council’s Transportation and Technology Exhibition trade show showcasing leading-edge technologies for fleet maintenance management. This year’s exhibit features approximately 380 vendors spanning 500,000 square feet.

“For nearly 70 years, TMC has worked to raise professional and technical standards for the trucking industry,” said TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell. “This annual meeting is an important part of that – not just to see what is available in the field on the exhibit hall floor – but to have the opportunity to discuss and learn about the latest advances in truck technology in our myriad of task forces and educational sessions. TMC leadership is committed to providing this experience for our members in a safe and responsible way.”

Technical Sessions features a comprehensive look at “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Your Electric Power Provider But Were Afraid to Ask,” and “Latest Findings from the U.S. Department of Energy’s SuperTruck 2 & 3 Programs.” Wednesday’s Technical Sessions focus on “Powerful Business Presentations: How Engineers & Technical Experts Can Win Their Audience Every Time,” and “So You Have a New Truck — Now What? Data-Driven Asset Management” Thursday’s Technical Sessions cover “Choosing the Right Engine Oil for Your Fleet — Now and in the Future,” and “Spec’ for a Wreck.”

The event also features a special pavilion on next generation tractor-trailer electrical/data connector designs, a ride and drive demonstration by Grote and Nikola, and a static demonstration display by ConMet.

“Building on the success of the Council’s 2023 Fall Meeting in Cleveland last September, Council members are excited to gather for our largest event venue, and we’re pleased at the response to our 2024 Annual Meeting agenda,” said TMC General Chairman and Treasurer Todd Cotier, director of maintenance for Bison Transport Inc. “We’re all very excited to collaborate in New Orleans to help solve the pressing technical issues of the day and view the latest in truck technology.”

By providing leadership support and opportunities to collaborate, TMC helps members develop the industry’s best practices that address the critical truck technology and maintenance issues that have the greatest impact on truck fleets. For nearly 70 years, TMC’s member-driven Recommended Maintenance and Engineering Practices have been setting the standards that help trucking companies specify and maintain their fleets more effectively.
