Certification Programs Offered

ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) offers and/or supports several certification programs pertaining to various aspects of maintenance, repair and specification. These programs described below:

Director of Maintenance/Supervisor of Maintenance Certification
[in partnership with the North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI)]

TMC partners with NATMI to provide certification of directors and supervisors of maintenance, based on a study group that uses TMC recommended practices and other information. Classes are held at TMC general meetings and other venues.

Certified VMRS Specialist Certification
The Certified VMRS Specialist Program provides current VMRS users a means of demonstrating their expertise and proficiency. It also encourages others to increase their knowledge and use of VMRS. The program highlights the importance of VMRS to employers and encourage employees to continue their VMRS education. Certified VMRS Specialists will display their certification and continue the proud tradition of implementing VMRS.

Cybersecurity Certification
American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) and SERJON, LLC announce a new collaborative effort to bring commercial vehicle cybersecurity training to TMC, American Trucking Associations, and other ATA Council members. The collaboration provides their members access to the certification training at a discounted price.

TMC Recommended Practice Certification (coming soon)

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to Support Other Certification Programs
All TMC educational sessions qualify for continuing education units (CEUs) for schools within the ASE Education Foundation, and the ASE itself for technicians there seeking to keep up their technician certification credentials.  As ASE is a valued industry partner, we do not compete with them for voluntary technician certification.
